Publication ethics

The editorial board of the scientific journal "Human and nation’s health" is guided in its work by the international ethical rules of scientific publications, which include the rules of decency, confidentiality, supervision of publications, accounting for possible conflicts of interest, etc.

In its activities, the editorial office follows the recommendations of the Committee on the Ethics of Scientific Publications Committee on Publication Ethics, "Publishing Ethics Resource Kit" publishing house Elsevier.

The editorial board of the journal adheres to the following rules for maintaining publication ethics:

observance of the main principles of the publication: scientificity, objectivity, professionalism, informational support of the most significant innovative researches;
unconditional loyalty to all subjects of the creative process who participate in the creation of the magazine;
wide application of double-blind peer review, involvement of objective, competent reviewers;
carrying out constant consultative work with authors aimed at fulfilling the requirements of international databases for the design and content of materials submitted for publication.

DECISION MAKING REGARDING PUBLICATIONS

The editor makes the decision to publish the submitted articles. It is governed by a journal policy based solely on academic merit and reviewer findings. The editor follows modern rules regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.

The editor must not use unpublished information in his own research without the written consent of the author. Editors must make appropriate decisions regarding ethical complaints regarding a submitted manuscript or published article.

The editor of the journal evaluates the intellectual content of the manuscripts regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious views, origin, citizenship or political preferences of the authors.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The editor and the editorial board do not disclose information about the submitted manuscripts (authors, topics, texts, etc.). Any manuscript received for review is treated as a confidential document. The editor and the editorial board undertake not to disclose information about the accepted manuscripts to third parties, except for the authors, reviewers, other scientific consultants and the publisher.

RESOLUTION OF CONFLICT OF INTERESTS

Unpublished material should not be used in any research by the editor, reviewers, or others without the written consent of the authors.

Editors, reviewers, and scientific advisors undertake to recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts in case of conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other interactions and relationships with authors, companies, and possibly other organizations related to the manuscript.

The editorial board undertakes to take adequate measures in case of conflict situations and claims related to the reviewed manuscripts or published materials.

Human and nation’s health may resolve claims or concerns of wrongdoing regarding research or publications raised by readers, reviewers, or others. In addition, the publishing house reserves the right to inform readers about the resolution of conflict situations.

ETHICS

Ethical guidelines for involving animals in research
The Journal of Human and nation’s health endorses the ARRIVE Guidelines for Reporting Experiments Using Live Animals. Authors and reviewers should use the ARRIVE guidelines as a checklist. The editors reserve the right to require a checklist and to reject submissions that do not comply with these guidelines, to reject submissions for ethical or animal welfare reasons, or if the described procedure is not justified by the value of the work presented.

Authors should refer to the American Association for Laboratory Animal Care or the European Association for Animal Research Code of Practice for the House and Care of Animals Used in Scientific Procedures for additional guidance.

Research using plants
Experimental research on plants (both cultivated and wild), including the collection of plant material, should comply with institutional, national or international guidelines. We encourage authors to comply with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Convention on Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Human Participatory Research
When reporting research involving humans, human material, human tissue, or human data, authors must state that the research was conducted in accordance with the 1975 Declaration of Helsinki, as revised in 2013. Approval from the local Institutional Review Board or other appropriate ethics committee must be obtained prior to initiation to confirm that the study complies with national and international guidelines

For non-interventional studies (eg, surveys, questionnaires, social media studies), all participants must be fully informed about whether anonymity is ensured, why the study is being conducted, how their data will be used, and whether there are any associated risks. Ethical approval must be obtained from the appropriate ethics committee before conducting the study. If ethical approval is not required, authors should either provide a waiver from the ethics committee or are encouraged to cite local or national legislation indicating that ethical approval is not required for this type of study.

DUTIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD:

to observe a respectful and correct attitude towards the author and his scientific orientation, to maintain editorial secrecy, to prevent bad faith in the processing of materials;
not to independently correct the author's text, agree with the authors on the final version of the text after making editorial corrections;
not allow materials to be published if they do not have scientific value, do not correspond to the profile of the journal, contradict its editorial policy and there are good reasons to believe that they contain plagiarism or were previously published in other publications;
ensure the involvement of objective and competent reviewers, apply the practice of double (blind) reviewing.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS:

review all manuscripts submitted for publication without prejudice, evaluating each one appropriately, regardless of the author's race, religion, national origin, status or place of work;
adhere to the review period established by the editors;
to treat the manuscript received for review as a confidential document, not to provide it for review by other persons; written reviews must be confidential;
do not use unpublished data from the manuscript;
provide an objective, well-argued and correct assessment of the presented research results.

Reviewers should immediately notify the editorial board if they discover any conflict of interest related to author identification. If the reviewed article does not correspond to the reviewer's area of expertise, they should immediately notify the editorial board.

Reviewers are required to notify the editorial board of any suspected scientific misconduct, as well as any other violation of the ethical principles of publication referred to in these guidelines.

OBLIGATIONS OF AUTHORS OF ARTICLES:

ensure novelty, reliability and originality of research results;
all materials of other authors should be drawn up with accurate citation of primary sources;
do not allow excessive borrowing and plagiarism in any form; do not allow auto-plagiarism;
ensure that the article is exclusive material and has not been previously published or submitted to another publication.

By submitting materials for publication in the scientific journal "Human and nation’s health", the authors agree that, in the case of acceptance of the materials for publication, the latter may be placed in electronic databases with a mandatory indication of authorship and preservation of copyright in full.

In the text of the work itself, the sources of external information should be presented in full - in the form of lists of literature sources (including personal previously published works of the authors). Authors are obliged to properly formalize borrowings in the form of citations or references.

Authors undertake to submit an article for consideration only to the journal "Human and nation’s health". Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is considered unethical behavior and grounds the article to be withdrawn from consideration.

If the author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in the publication, the author must notify the editor of the journal and interact with him in order to remove the publication or correct the errors as soon as possible.

If the editor has received information from a third party that the publication contains significant errors, the author is obliged to withdraw the work or correct the errors in the shortest possible time.

STATEMENT OF AUTHORITY

The editorial board of the journal "Human and nation’s health" assumes that all authors agree with the content of the article, have given their express consent to its publication, and have obtained consent from the responsible persons at the institute/organization where the work was performed, before the article was submitted for consideration .

All authors whose names are indicated in the application declare that:
- made a significant contribution to the development of the concept or structure of the work; or in the collection, analysis or interpretation of data;
- prepared research material or critically reviewed it for important intellectual content;
- approved the version for publication;
- agree to be responsible for all aspects of the work, ensuring that issues related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work will be properly investigated and resolved.

The Editorial Board of Human and nation’s health encourages collaboration with colleagues at research sites and expects them to be included as co-authors if they meet all of the authorship criteria described above. Co-authors who do not meet all authorship criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section.

DECLARATION OF SUBMISSION

The work described has not been previously published, is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and its publication has been approved by all authors and the responsible authorities where the work was performed. If accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in Ukrainian, English or any other language, including in electronic form, without the written consent of the copyright owner.
